Foster Foods (P) Ltd, was the brainchild of a group of NRIs working in U.A.E. They wanted to do something fruitful for their home land. Under the leadership of Managing Director Mr. Boban Kollannur, the group identified Biscuit industry as the one to be embarked upon and registered Foster Foods (P) Ltd in the year 1987. The company commenced the production in 1992 and started with few varieties of Biscuits. Within a short span, the number of varieties and delicacies increased to 44. Today FOSTER is an accepted household name when it comes to BiscuitsHaving catered to the general taste of the common man, the leadership of “FOSTER” felt the need of Biscuits for Fostering health. The first product in this line was LIFETIME a Zero Sugar Biscuit, for the first time in India, for the consumption of those who should keep a watch on their blood sugar level. This product manufactured from technology developed by Central Food Technological Research Institute, is being well accepted by the consumers in Kerala. The second in line of health products is a high protein biscuit. The technology for this biscuit is developed by Defence Food Research Laboratory, a unit of Defence Research and Development Organization. DFRL developed this product for the consumption of our Defence personnel, for whom maintaining a healthy body is of prime importance. The High Protein level of this Biscuit is provided by Proteins derived from Egg. FOSTER acquired rights to this technology and is manufacturing the High Protein Biscuits, which are being marketed under the brand “FOSTER CHICKEE BICKEE’. Protein is one nutrient, which enhances growth. Hence these Biscuits will be a boon to the growing children and convalescing patientsFoster is embarking upon a new health product shortly. This is a High Fibre Biscuit. The ‘diet’ formula is devised by the CFTRI to fight constipation, the root cause of many ailments. Full of roughage (10%), the Biscuit found favour with people who have such complaints. Apart from sweet and nutritious, the Biscuit is a teatime delicacy as wellFOSTER GROUPAfter the success story of FOSTER FOODS,the promoters of NRI Group were encouraged to set up new units for diversification of production to Confectionary and Waters and also a marketing unit for marketing the Foster's and other quality products.Presently, there are 4 units in the FOSTER GROUP, They are: 1. Foster foods commenced its production of biscuits in 1992. After the success story of Foster Foods, in 2001 printing unit at Kunnamkulam, Thrissur styled Grand Fost Print & Pack (P) Ltd was started. After its successful operation for a few years the Directors thought of investing into another venture in the baking industry. This has resulted in the birth of Foster Hot Bread (P)Ltd. This Supreme Technology unit started its unit during November 2005 at Kinfra Food Park, Kakkanchery, Malappuram District. The Technology used in the production process is Italian and the company follows the processing technology transferred to us by the Central Food Technological Research Institute ( C F T R I ) ,Mysore.This is the 3rd largest Bread, Cake & Cookies manufacturing unit of Kerala. Bread is being marketed in the three nearby districts viz Malappuram, Calicut & Thrissur, where as cake and other bakery products throughout the state. The company is in the stage of product diversification and test for increasing the shelf life and quality is being carried out.Cashew Nut Cookies & Bar Cake in different flavours are on the stream. As a further step toward quality maintenance and management the Board of Directors have decided to go for HACCP (Hazard Analysis &Critical Control Point) Certification and we are in the process of the same and are hopeful of completing the procedures with in a few months.We are very proud to say that Hotel Taj Residency, Calicut is one of our esteemed client. Our major clientele includes MIMS Hospital Calicut, Supplyco Super markets,Calicut University Co-operative Store ,Appollo Hospital Cannanore & Ammana Toyota Cannanore and many more.
