The company commenced the production in 1992 and started with few varieties of Biscuits. Within a short span, the number of varieties and delicacies increased to 44. Today FOSTER is an accepted household name when it comes to BiscuitsHaving catered to the general taste of the common man, the leadership of “FOSTER” felt the need of Biscuits for Fostering health. The first product in this line was LIFETIME a Zero Sugar Biscuit, for the first time in India, for the consumption of those who should keep a watch on their blood sugar level. This product manufactured from technology developed by Central Food Technological Research Institute, is being well accepted by the consumers in Kerala. The second in line of health products is a high protein biscuit. The technology for this biscuit is developed by Defence Food Research Laboratory, a unit of Defence Research and Development Organization. DFRL developed this product for the consumption of our Defence personnel, for whom maintaining a healthy body is of prime importance. The High Protein level of this Biscuit is provided by Proteins derived from Egg. FOSTER acquired rights to this technology and is manufacturing the High Protein Biscuits, which are being marketed under the brand “FOSTER CHICKEE BICKEE’. Protein is one nutrient, which enhances growth. Hence these Biscuits will be a boon to the growing children and convalescing patientsFoster is embarking upon a new health product shortly. This is a High Fibre Biscuit. The ‘diet’ formula is devised by the CFTRI to fight constipation, the root cause of many ailments. Full of roughage (10%), the Biscuit found favour with people who have such complaints. Kerala Nut Food is part of the K.P.P group, who is one of the pioneers of cashew industry in India. Late K. Parameswaran Pillai founded the group in 1925. The group from a modest start with a single processing unit has today around 60 such units with over 17,500 employees in South India, thereby making it the second largest processor of blanched cashew kernels in the world. The group has not hence looked back and has been constantly been in the forefront of the Cashew trade..KERALA NUT FOOD CO, was started in 1965 when the K.P.P group was bifurcated into four sister concerns with the four sons of Mr. K. Parameswaran Pillai at the helm each individual company.Mr. P. Gangadharan Pillai, who is the eldest son of Mr. K. Parameswaran Pillai, is managing KERALA NUT FOOD CO. Mr. Gangadharan Pillai or Ganga as he is known to most of the trading community is one of the most experienced men in the cashew industry with over 55 years in the cashew trade. It was during this time that he built up a reputation for himself and the group with his untiring efforts. He has been the Chairman of the Cashew export promotion council for over 7 times and has also been The President of the Federation of Indian Export Organization (F.I.E.O), New Delhi. He was the Permanent Ambassador from India to the International Nut Council till he relinquished the post in the year 2000. His grandson Dr. S. Unnikrishnan is assisting him.
