The Congregation of Mother of Carmel (C.M.C.), founded in 1866 by Blessed Chavara Kuriakose Elias and the Carmelite Missionary Fr. Leopold Beccaro, is the first indigenous Congregation of Kerala. Sad at the barrenness of Syro-Malabar Church of Kerala in nurturing saints, they founded our Congregation so that women also could have the same chance, as men to lead a consecrated life, love God and neighbor and serve with total commitment.Vimala College is a Christian College under the Management of the Nirmala Province, Thrissur, Kerala of C.M.C. (The Congregation of Mother Carmel) in the Roman Catholic Church. The College is under the religious jurisdiction of the Catholic Bishop of Thrissur. 'Vimala stands for the 'Immaculate Conception' her motto being "Veritas et Amor" - Truth and Love. True to the ideals and heritage handed over to the Congreation by her Founders, Blessed Chavara Kuriakose Elias and Fr. Leopold Beccaro. The college aims at the "pursuit of intellectual and professional excellence, the total formation of the girls as much for their own enrichment as for the service of society and the nation in spirit of Christ." The management maintains the unique tradition of recruiting the staff on the basis of scholastic excellence, competence and commitment to the profession.
