The college owes its origin to the farsightedness and vision of its founder patron, Most Rev Dr Joseph Attippetty, the first Indian Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Verapoly.Greatly concerned by the lack of educational facilities for the members of his diocese, His Grace ventured upon the mission of starting a new college at Ernakulam, the then capital of the Former State of Cochin. His efforts bore fruit in 1946 when the University of Madras accorded sanction to His Grace for starting a second grade college.The college began functioning on 16th of July, 1946, in the old St.Albert’s High School building, situated in front of the present college campus with 150 students in the first year intermediate class.Years have gone by. Long strides have been taken by the college in its development. Today under the patronage of His Grace Dr.Daniel Acharuparambil, St.Albert’s College is a front runner First Grade College functioning under the Mahatma Gandhi University.

Mar Athanasios College for Advanced Studies Tiruvalla (MACFAST)- Kerala, India, is a postgraduate school that offers specially developed courses in the fields of Information Technology, Biosciences, and Management Studies. It is owned and managed by the Corporate Educational Agency of the Catholic Diocese of Tiruvalla, a religious and charitable society with His Excellency Isaac Mar Cleemis as the President and Patron. A large number of schools, colleges, hospitals, hostels, medical and paramedical institutions (Pushpagiri Medical College, Tiruvalla), and research centres have been established throughout India in the past 70 years. Situated amidst lush green tropical trees, MACFAST, is housed in a modern, multi- storeyed building with a total built-up area of 2,00,000 sq. ft. It comprises lecture halls, seminar rooms, conference halls, offices, and a well-stocked Business and IT library as well as a digital library. The institution has a 2 Mbps leased line Internet connection with more than four class C private IP addresses in a large network consisting of more than 200 computers and several servers running on open source operating system. The college provides hostels for girls and boys under the supervision of the Rev. Sisters and Fathers.The College conducts MBA and MCA courses, each with a student strength of 60 with the approval of the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE). All the courses are affiliated to the Mahatma Gandhi University - Kerala. MACFAST is thus able to bring out, each year, a significant number of postgraduate professionals, specially trained to suit the needs of both the industrial and educational sectors.
