It is based at Kothamangalam, the gate-way to the high ranges of Kerala, which is the part of the southern western ghats. Western ghats, which is one of the global hotspots of biodiversity has been under immense anthropogenic pressure, and its conservation is possible only through the commitment of people aware of the threats, and willing to act to save the ghats. The "Green Circle" has been recently registered as a charitable society, in order to carry out the works more effectively and in an organized way. The circle members have chalked out a few ambitions plans for the long term conservation of the environment in and around kothamangalam, as we feel that it is an ideal place to initiate such an environmental education / conservation activity. Kothamangalam is 50Km away from Cochin, on the way to Munnar and the famous Eravikulam national park - the Tahr country. It also has the Botthathankettu forest, the Salim Ali Bird sanctuary and the Pooyamkutty-Idamalayaar valley forest on its north-east sides. so, we believe the ripples that we make here transform as waves of conservation in the area up and down, north and south.

The Ernakulam Branch of Southern India Reginal Council is the first branch of the Institute in Kerala. It was granted recognition on 1st December, 1967. Mr. T. Velupillai was the first chairman of the branch and Mr. Venugopal C. Govind, the first Secretary. Ernakulam was the first branch in the country to have its own building which was inaugurated by the president of ICAI Mr. P A Nair on 22nd August, 1986.The second floor of the building was commissioned in October, 1994 by Mr. B P Rao, the then president of ICAI. The branch is housed in a 4000 sq. ft. three storied building with a well appointed conference hall and three spacious class rooms and a well furnished office & chairman’s cabin.Today, Ernakulam is the third biggest branch in south India with 1205 members next only to Bangalore & Hyderabad. The branch got accreditation as a Sunday Test Centre in 1997.Accredited coaching classes for Foundation & Intermediate ( now PE I & PE II) courses were started in 1999.A high tech computer centre was established in 2000 with a grant from ICAI.Our branch is also accredited by ICAI to conduct- The 250 Hour Compulsory Computer Training Programme under the new scheme of education.- Course on General Management & Communication SkillsWe have a full fledged library of more than 2000 books managed by a full time librarianThe operations of the branch are fully computerised.
